KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal scripted history on 24th November by registering the highest first-wicket partnership for an Indian pair in Test cricket on Australian soil. Rahul and Jaiswal shared a monumental 201-run opening partnership against Australia on Day 3 of the opening Test. This stand not only became India's highest first-wicket partnership in Australia, surpassing Sunil Gavaskar and Kris Srikkanth's 191-run effort at Sydney in 1986, but it also marked the first time an Indian opening pair crossed the 200-run mark-Down Under. The partnership, is also the highest by a visiting team outside England since Jack Hobbs and Wilfred Rhodes' iconic 323-run stand in Melbourne in 1912.

Their partnership also ended India's 19-year wait for a century-plus opening stand in Australia, the last being a 123-run effort by Virender Sehwag and Akash Chopra at Sydney in 2004.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who is playing his first Test against Australia in Perth these days, joined legendary Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, and Virat Kohli in an elite list on Sunday (November 24) by becoming the fifth Indian cricketer to score a Test century in Perth.
The highest individual score by an Indian in Perth was Sunil Gavaskar's 127, achieved in 1977 at the WACA Ground during a Test against Australia. Despite this gritty performance, India narrowly lost that match by two wickets At the Optus Stadium, Virat Kohli's 123 in 2018 was the highest score by an Indian batter. This innings also came in a losing effort, as Australia secured a 146-run victory.
Yashasvi Jaiswal now holds the record of highest individual score at Perth.
Yashasvi Jaiswal also has 34 sixes in 2024. He now has hit the most number of sixes in a calendar year in the longest format of the game. Jaiswal has broken the record of Brendon McCullum, who hit 33 sixes in Tests for New Zealand in 2014.

Virat Kohli made the record for most runs by a visiting batter in Australia. He went past Jack Hobbs (9). The record for most hundreds by a batter in any visiting batter is Don Bradman (11 hundreds in England)
Virat Kohli made the record for scoring multiple hundreds in Tests at the Perth Stadium. The overall record is held by Marnus Labuschagne, who has three centuries to his name at the Optus Stadium.
Virat Kohli became the fourth Indian batter to score 30 or more hundreds in Tests. Sachin Tendulkar (51), Rahul Dravid (36) and Sunil Gavaskar (34) are the other batters.
